Co-creation opens new doors to true value
In 2011, GE Oil & Gas teamed up with TransCanada to alter the industry's perception of what a 16.5 MW turbine should be. The resulting NovaLT™16 maximizes production and minimizes risk with outstanding availability and durability in mechanical drive and power generation applications.
The oil and gas industry is extremely sensitive to price fluctuations and operators are increasingly searching for ways to reduce costs while improving operational flexibility. Eking out an extra point of efficiency can translates into million dollars in fuel saving and more availability allows to operate longer without stops.
These are ambitious and technologically complex goals that demands a design-centric approach. That’s why, in 2011, we approached TransCanada Corporation to see if they would collaborate with us on a new turbine solution, adding their extensive pipeline operating insights to the development process.
