Downhole equipment exceeds 10-year run life
Decade-old Zenith® E-Series ESP gauge and Auto Flow Valve serve as example of longstanding commitment to world class service and equipment.
As operators invest in ESPs to artificially lift declining oil reserves to surface, reliable insight into downhole operations and proactive prevention of downtime is critical to effectively sustain production capacity.
In late September 2005, soon after Zenith Oilfield Technology Ltd. first opened its doors as an ambitious independent provider of downhole monitoring and completion equipment for the oil and gas industry, a Zenith field engineer travelled from what began as a small regional team base in Muscat, Oman, to meet with a Middle Eastern operator and begin installation of a Zenith E-Series ESP monitoring system in a well in an offshore oilfield.
Originally drilled in the 1970s, the well was being upgraded and ESPs introduced to the field to artificially lift oil reserves to surface and sustain production capacity of the ageing field. The Zenith E-Series gauge was selected to deliver reliable and accurate well and pump information to SCADA systems, enabling the customer to assess ESP performance, optimise production and manage the reservoir effectively.
The Zenith E-Series ESP gauge delivers reliable, accurate data for effective production management, while a range of tubing drain valves provides effective solids management to safeguard the ESP system.
Over the next four days, the Zenith engineer carried out the necessary equipment tests on the rig floor; preparing connections, fitting the Zenith E7 type gauge to the ESP motor, and continuously testing and checking the gauge, connections and cables throughout the run-in-hole process, completing the install on September 28, 2005. The pump was successfully started the following day.
