GE's Oil & Gas advanced technology uprate programs for gas turbines are designed to enhance unit performance, yielding major benefits with attractive economic payback, and contributing to the bottom line of GE Customers. Gas turbine advanced technology uprates are designed to improve efficiency, increase output, improve heat rate, and enhance the reliability and availability of plant equipment. The most common time to consider an uprate is during an overhaul. In most cases, the economic evaluation will justify one of the available packages with a payback period of less than two years.

Extendor™ Systems
Extendor™ systems are designed to increase the interval between combustion inspections, improving availability and reducing maintenance costs for MS5002, MS3002, PGT10 and GE10 gas turbines. For example in MS5002 gas turbines the standard combustion inspection requirement is every 12,000 hours. These GE value-added solutions extend combustion inspection intervals to as much as 24,000 hours.

Firing Temperature Uprate
The designs of all hot gas path components (buckets, nozzles and shrouds) have been improved with advanced materials and improved cooling features. You can increase the firing temperature to improve efficiency and increase output or maintain the present firing temperature to increase reliability and availability.

Improved Cooling
Cooling path redesigns allow the installation of advanced components that require less cooling and have lower bulk metal temperatures. These advanced material designs and cooling features can contribute to improved efficiency, reliability, availability and increased output.

Sealing Techniques
Applying advanced sealing technologies improves leakage control. From brush seals and cloth seals to the optimized clearances of honeycomb seals, sealing technologies balance and minimize airflow leakage thus improving efficiency and output.
