MS5002 Uprate
Since the MS5002 was introduced in 1970, technology enhancements have increased both the output and the efficiency of this machine. Due to continued strong customer interest, GE embarked on a development program to further increase the output of the MS5002C. The MS5002D advanced technology uprate is the result of that effort.

The key benefits of this uprate are:
  • Increased operating income (improved output of >12% & higher availability)
  • Increased reliability (new parts design and materials)
  • Reduced maintenance costs (reduced number and scope of inspections)
According to customer calculations, for an LNG or a re-injection plant, the MS5002 uprate investment can pay for itself in just a few months.

GE 10 Upgrade
The GE10 gas turbine, introduced in 1999, is a high efficiency, heavy-duty machine developed for power generation and mechanical drive applications. In 2004 GE introduced an uprate to enhance the power output and thermal efficiency. New advanced high-tech seals and selected components of the exhaust diffuser are installed to yield an increase of 3.6% in power and 1.0% in efficiency.

PGT 10 Uprate
GE Oil & Gas developed a retrofit kit to improve the performance of the PGT10 to the level of the GE10. In this uprate some of the main components (i.e., axial components, first stage hot parts, etc.) are changed to deliver a full 12% power increase. Advanced high-tech seals are installed contributing to the 1.3% of increased efficiency.

MS3002 Uprate
The MS3002 gas turbine was introduced in 1950. Various design changes in the combustion and turbine hot gas path design were developed over the years. Modernization and uprate programs are available for the MS3002 model J. These programs include:
  • MS 3002J Advanced Technolgy
  • MS 3002J conversion to K model
An advanced technology retrofit increases output by >3.5% and efficiency by >0.3% while retaining a maximum number of original parts and the footprint. The program consists primarily of upgrading the hot gas path and combustion components.

The new MS3002K was recently introduced to address strong customer interest in improved thermal efficiency and increased output. The primary design change is in the axial flow compressor, which has an improved aerodynamic blading design.
